Mapping of Retouched Photos: How to Associate Your Retouched Photos with Their Originals

In a gallery in "Retouch" mode, after each order you will find a window in the "Retouch" tab to associate retouched photos with their originals. It is important to do this so that your clients' favorites, ratio checks, and automatic cropping are applied correctly, and so that each photo is properly recorded in the ordered items.

You can also add additional photos to the order — alternative versions, black & white, or bonus photos — which will automatically be included as additional digital downloads for your clients.

You only need to associate at least one version of each photo to keep track of it; the remaining photos in the left column (alternative versions, black & white, bonus photos) will be added as additional digital downloads.

Optimizes processing: a photo used in multiple physical items is only processed once

How to associate your retouched photos

1. Import your retouched photos

Start by importing the photos you want to associate with the originals (and any additional photos). They will then appear in the right-hand column, waiting to be associated.

2. Create the associations

Automatically:

Fotostudio first associates your photos by file name.

Example: photo-01.jpg → photo-01-retouch.jpg

For best results, keep a clear link between names (prefix, suffix, number, or identical name).

If no reliable match is found, a random association is proposed.

👉 You can correct the associations manually or validate them directly, even if some associations are not perfect.

The order can be validated even if some photos are not perfectly associated. If the order contains only digital files, missing exact matches does not affect processing.

Manually: if automatic association does not find all matches, simply drag each retouched photo onto its corresponding original.

Offer additional retouches

If you add extra photos — alternative versions, black & white, or bonus photos — they will automatically be added as additional digital downloads for your clients. This allows you to easily offer extra retouches while keeping track of each original photo and its variants.
