# How to create and configure a custom field?

To create a custom field, go to [Settings > Modules > Custom Fields](https://www.fotostudio.io/app/custom_fields) and click on the `New field` button.

You will then have several parameters:

###### Field Name

Choose a name for your field.

###### Add to

Choose which record you want to associate this field with.

* a shooting
* a client / prospect

###### Field Type

Choose the type you want to associate with this field.

* Simple text: a word, a phrase
* Multi-line text: a paragraph
* Yes / No: a checkbox
* Date: displays a small calendar to select a date

###### Required?

This option allows you to make the field mandatory (if you want to force yourself to fill it in on each record).

###### Variable

This option allows you to create a variable associated with this custom field in order to use it in your contracts and emails.
