Visionnage module: setting up your default settings and creating your collections

This article is for photographers who have already enabled the Visionnage module and want to configure their default settings, as well as build their own collections (multi-photo visuals) to offer during their live sales sessions.

Accessing the module's administration

Go to Visionnage module settings (Modules menu > Visionnage, once the module has been enabled from Settings > Modules).

At the top of this page, two quick shortcuts:

  • "Start a session": directly launches a Visionnage session for an existing client session
  • "Manage sold collections": opens the catalog of your collections (see below)

Default settings

The settings form is organized into 5 tabs. These values apply by default to all your sessions, unless you customize them for a specific session type (wedding, birth, corporate...) further down the same page - any session type you haven't customized simply keeps using the global defaults.

"Digital pack" tab

If you sell digital files by quota (e.g. "5 photos included, additional packs afterwards"):

  1. Enable "Offer a digital photo pack"
  2. Enter the number of photos included in the base pack
  3. Add as many additional tiers as you want (e.g. "+5 photos" at one price, "+10 photos" at another) - leave the list empty to only offer per-unit purchases beyond the base pack
  4. Enter the price of a single photo beyond any quota

This setting remains editable during a specific session (Settings button on the Visionnage screen), without ever touching your account default.

"Identity & music" tab

  • Visual identity: which graphic identity (logo + color) to use during the session (slideshow opening/closing card, start screen background). Your main identity by default.
  • Slideshow music: choose a default track, automatically suggested at the start of each session (editable afterwards during the session). Two possible sources: the built-in music library (search by title/genre/mood) or a direct upload.
  • Product catalog offered during the session: choose whether the client can be shown all your active products, or only those from a specific price catalog (handy if you have different catalogs depending on client/session type).

"Slideshow" tab

  • Text font: choose from your usual fonts (the same Google Fonts offered for your graphic identity), with a live preview in the list
  • Opening card: small customizable text, title and subtitle (by default: session name, client name, session date)
  • Closing card: same (by default: client name, "Thank you", "for your trust")

These texts remain simple starting values: editable at any time during a specific session without affecting your account default.

"My lists" tab

Create here the custom lists ("My lists", see the article on the module itself) that should be automatically offered as soon as each new Visionnage session starts (e.g. "Album", "Gifted prints", "Save-the-date") - no need to recreate them every time. For each list: a name, a color (from a suggested palette) and an optional maximum quota.

ℹ️ These lists are only offered for a session that hasn't started yet (no ratings/carts saved). As soon as the photographer actually interacts with one of them during a real session, it becomes a list specific to that session (editable/deletable without affecting your defaults).

Customizing a specific session type

Below the global defaults, a section lists your session types (wedding, birth...): open the one you want to adjust, it starts from a copy of the global settings. A "Revert to global defaults" button lets you cancel this customization at any time for that specific type.

Creating and managing your sold collections

Go to Collections. A collection is a grouping of several photos into a single visual (triptych, photo wall...), which you then offer in one or more variants (different sizes/prices for the same layout).

1. Create the group (the collection)

Click "New collection":

  • Name of the collection (e.g. "Prestige trilogy")
  • Status: active or not (an inactive collection is not offered in any session)
  • Availability: check the relevant session types, or leave everything unchecked to offer it to all session types

On creation, a first variant (visual) is automatically generated, and you're redirected to its editor.

2. Building the visual for each variant

Each variant of a collection is a fully independent composition (its own visual, its own openings, its own price): you could for example offer the same triptych in 20×30 cm and in 30×30 cm, with different layouts if needed.

The visual editor works like a simplified layout tool:

  1. Start from a template (10 layouts offered: Triptych, Diptych, Folio, Row of 4, 2×2 square, 3×2 grid, "1+4", Large+3, Photo wall, Panorama+2) or build everything from scratch
  2. Add blocks to the canvas:
  • Add an opening: a simple photo slot, filled in by the client during the session
  • From a product: locks this slot to a real product from your catalog (with its actual size and its frame or gallery wrap if it already has one configured, see below) - handy for a collection that includes, for example, a fixed framed print in the middle of several free openings
  • Add a sub-collection: nests one of your other collections inside this one
  1. Move/resize each block with the mouse (drag to move, handles to resize, Shift to keep proportions): automatic snapping to the edges/centers of other blocks and the frame, sizes rounded to the centimeter
  2. Rotate a specific block to a free angle (dedicated handle, Shift for a free angle not rounded to 5°) for a collage-like effect, or the whole composition at once (button "Rotate 90°")
  3. Keyboard shortcuts: arrow keys to move by cm (Shift = 5 cm), Delete to remove a block, ⌘/Ctrl+C then V to duplicate, ⌘/Ctrl+Z to undo

💡 A block locked to a product ("From a product") doesn't resize freely: its size follows that of the chosen product. From the block's panel, a selector lets you switch to another variant of the same product (or "Change product" to choose a different one), instead of dragging a handle.

3. Setting the variant's price

  • Label of the variant (e.g. "90×40 cm")
  • Price excl. tax, with an automatically calculated incl. tax preview based on the chosen VAT rate
  • If your visual contains at least one "From a product" block, a price suggestion appears (sum of the products used in the composition): click "Add a variant with this price" to create a new pre-filled variant with this amount, still editable afterwards

4. Duplicating a variant

From the group's page, the "Duplicate this variant" button (in the editor) or "Duplicate" (from the group's variant list) creates an identical copy of the visual/price, to be adjusted afterwards for another size.

This option is configured directly in your usual product catalog (the one you use for your quotes/invoices), not in the collections screen. It only appears if the Visionnage module is enabled on your account: no change for other users.

  1. Open your product in modules -> price lists, in its variants table (you must create at least one variant, e.g. size -> 20x30, 40x40).
  2. A "Frame" column is visible: click the icon to open the configuration for that specific variant
  3. Choose the style:
  • No frame (default)
  • Classic frame: color (presets or custom color) + width of the visible molding (in cm)
  • Gallery wrap: color of the sides/edge + width of an optional thin floating frame around it + stretcher bar depth (adjusts the intensity of the relief/drop shadow)
  1. Mat (optional, both styles): width + color
  2. Check "Apply this frame to all variants of this product" if you want to avoid repeating the configuration variant by variant (e.g. the same frame regardless of size)
  3. Save

This setting automatically applies everywhere this product is used during a Visionnage session:

  • Room view: the product placed on the wall faithfully displays its frame/depth, with the total footprint enlarged by the frame's width (the photo itself always keeps its real size)
  • Products (real-size projection): the frame is displayed around the projected photo
  • Collections: if you've locked an opening to this product ("From a product", see above), the frame is also displayed in that opening

ℹ️ This setting has no effect anywhere else in Fotostudio (quotes, invoices, client catalog...): it's only used to faithfully represent the product during a Visionnage session.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to recreate my settings for each session type?
No. The settings entered at the top of the page ("Global defaults") apply to all your sessions. You only customize a specific session type if you truly need different behavior for it.

Can I offer the same collection in several sizes?
Yes, that's exactly the role of "variants": add as many as you want from the group's page, each with its own visual and its own price.

What's the difference between an "opening" and a "From a product" block?
A simple opening is an empty slot the client freely fills with one of their photos during the session. A "From a product" block is locked to a real product from your catalog (fixed size and frame) - handy for an element that never changes from one composition to another, and essential if you want to display frames and/or gallery wraps.

Does the frame/gallery wrap change the product's price?
No, this setting is purely visual (faithful representation during the session). The variant's price remains the one you defined in your catalog, as usual.

Can I choose a different product catalog depending on the session type?
Yes, in the "Identity & music" tab of the settings, customize the relevant session type and choose its own catalog.

I don't see the "Frame" column on my product catalog, why?
It only appears if the Visionnage module is enabled on your account (Settings > Modules). Check it's enabled, then reload your catalog page.

Can I nest a collection inside another one?
Yes, via the "Add a sub-collection" block in the visual editor. You must first have created the other collection in order to nest it.
