What is the difference between a client and a prospect?

In Fotostudio, we distinguish 4 types of contacts: prospects, clients, providers and partners.

A prospect

A prospect is a person who contacts you and has a shoot in mind. You don't know yet whether you will work with this person.

The advantage of a prospect is that they appear in a dedicated menu, Contacts > Prospects, and have a status (new, email sent, to contact again, etc.), which lets you follow how things are progressing with this person. You can show them as a list or as a pipeline, with one column per status (List / Pipeline selector at the top of the page).

If a shoot is confirmed with a prospect (for example, a contract is signed), they automatically become a client.

You can also turn a prospect into a client manually by editing the contact. In the contact's edit window (Edit button on their record), you can choose the type of your contact: prospect or client.

Contact record

A person who contacts you through your contact form becomes a prospect in Fotostudio, with the "New" status. If they are already in your contacts as a client, provider or partner, they keep their type.

A client is a person you are going to work with or have already worked with.
